Even minor projects can present complex challenges needing unique solutions. The upgrades for the University of Adelaide’s Advancement & Marketing Branches within the Division of External Engagement exemplify this. What began as a study to foster a new way of working within existing spaces evolved into a thoughtfully reimagined environment that balances functionality, style, and engagement. The project focused on upgrading amenities and creating a more dynamic front-facing presence for teams that regularly host alumni, dignitaries, and donors.

Although initial aspirations for comprehensive building performance enhancements were refined to align with budget considerations, the revised scope delivered impactful results. These included enhanced open collaboration spaces, a more welcoming front-of-house area, and essential base building improvements. The outdated layout of enclosed workstations and small, underutilized spaces was transformed. Internal walls were removed to create open, collaborative hubs, while carefully maintaining privacy and functionality for specific team needs. New communal lockers and state-of-the-art amenities were introduced to support an agile work model. Updates to AV, security, and compliance ensured alignment with the University’s rigorous standards.

This project exemplifies how Greenway’s strategic approach to space design can enhance both form and function, creating environments that inspire connection, productivity, and pride.
