DIS and DEM Fitout

Client Dept. of Planning Transport and Infrastructure Location Waymouth Street, Adelaide Value $3.8M Completion 2018

As part of this project, a new common reception area greets visitors at the Dept. of Industry and Skills (DIS) and the Dept. of Energy and Mining (DEM). This significant upgrade of the shared reception, lobby and interactive spaces partnered with increased efficiency across all floors in working and support areas through the consolidation of collaboration and activity spaces, and improvements in workstation accommodation.

Part of the challenge in determining a culturally appropriate response to the common greeting space was focussing on the shared diversity statement which welcomes the diversity of ideas, people, cultures and interests, embracing the differences and celebrating their values in contributing towards the growth and prosperity of the State.

Integrated into the fitout was a wokali (shield) carved and painted by Kaurna Ngarrindjeri Yankunytjatara artist Allan Sumner. This contemporary piece, complimented an image of a commissioned dot painting that dressed the glazing across the front of the main meeting space.

Delivered in an incredibly short period in a challenging environment, Greenway relocated and repositioned over 850 team members of these Departments across eight floors. Working closely and collaboratively with the Client agencies, DPTI and the Building Contractor, these works were completed mainly on nights and weekends to minimise disruption to the building users.
