Glengowrie Ambulance Station

The site is located on Morphett Road, with very good access to the main feeder road to allow good response times for the ambulance service. The neighbouring buildings are setback single storey structures providing clear line of sight for vehicle movement. The ambulance bay is located on the southern side of the site, to allow for the closest connection to the traffic lights on Bray Street for safe ingress of the vehicles. The car park is designed so the ambulance vehicles can drive down the site on the northern side and turn around so they are always aligned correctly for exiting the site. The administration building faces due north for excellent passive solar gain and optimal end user comfort.
The ambulance bay is precast concrete for durability, with high level windows and sections of translucent roof sheeting for natural light. The administration building is split into two sections to create a more domestic scale. The crew room facing onto the street has brickwork with high level windows and the remainder of the building is lightweight cladding.
