Adelaide Park(ing) Day 2012

By Simon Frost Sep 24th 2012 10:00am

Greenway folded their way onto the streets for this year's Park(ing) Day event.

Official explanation:

PARK(ing) Day is the time when parking spaces in cities all around the world go from asphalt to awesome. It all started in 2005 when San Francisco arts collective ‘Rebar’ came up with the idea that paying a parking meter is a bit like ‘renting’ a public space, so instead of parking a car, why not park something better?

This event, which occurs on the third Friday in September each year, invites teams of designers, creative people and anyone who is passionate about their city to temporarily transform on-street car parks into creative spaces that make the street a more enjoyable, attractive and sociable place for the day.

Our title was Captured Concepts.

It’s not just swings and roundabouts!

Jan 28th 2016 12:00am

It's always great when we get excellent feedback from users of our spaces, however it's even better when those spaces have such an impact on younger users. As part of the larger Glenunga Community Hub project, Greenway worked with Oxigen Landscape Architects to create an activity based play space for younger users of the precinct. Rather than just being swings and slides under a shade sail, great effort went in to creating an active space with water play, elevational changes, different ground surfaces and other components to promote a more creative way of interacting with the space, other kids and the environment, all shaded with the large trees nearby. We were pleased to see the playground get a rave review on the "Kids in Adelaide" website, which you can read here.
